IT Software Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities
The IT Software Engineer develops and maintains information systems and provides user support.
The IT Software Engineer plays the dual role of: (1) a developer, collecting user requirements, designing, programming and deploying systems following standards and agreed methods, aiming to achieve high quality in usability and technical design; and, (2) a team member for maintenance and support, responding promptly to user support and enhancement requests and ensuring high availability and smooth operation of the systems for which she/he is responsible.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of various methods and techniques for requirements analysis and systems design.
Thorough understanding of software engineering processes and the software engineering life cycle.
Good technical knowledge of Visual Basic 6.0, MS SQL Server, HTML, CSS, Java Script, ASP, ASP.NET, VB.NET and knowledge of XML and COM+.
Knowledge of the development of financial, human resources or project management systems.
Demonstrated software project management abilities, including project planning and estimating, progress review and reporting.
Ability to follow a disciplined and methodical approach to systems analysis and design. Excellent customer/user orientation.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in different project teams.
REQUIRED
Education, Experience and Language Skills
University degree in computer science with coursework in software engineering or a related field.
Two years of relevant work experience in software development for client/server and web-based systems using established methods and a disciplined approach to software engineering.
Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of German and/or other official languages of the Agency (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
