Secretary For African Heart Network (AHN)/World Heart Federation (WHF) For Africa Vacancy
THE INSTITUTION
African Heart Network (AHN), an affiliate of World Heart Federation
(WHF), Geneva, is a coalition of National Heart Foundations in Africa.
AHN has the primary aim of helping people achieve a longer and better
life through prevention and control of heart disease and stroke.
MAIN FUNCTION
Strengthen the AHN network of member organizations in Africa. Build
capacity among these organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
AHN Membership: Develop the membership of AHN; Enroll new members;
increase the flow of relevant information and communication among the
members, between members and AHN and with WHF.
AHN Annual Action Plan; Ensure that the Action Plan is implemented by
following up with member organizations; Developing and collating
material; drafting projects; Reporting on the status of the Action Plan
AHN Annual Workshop; Organize the workshop from a content point of view;
Develop the programme, Enroll experts and speakers; Ensure evaluation,
Reporting and follow up after the meeting.
Perform the role of Secretary to the AHN Council and its Committees
during meetings and conference calls.
Evaluation: With help from the WHF, develop and evaluation framework for
AHN member projects as well as for the AHN Action Plan. Ensure that the
evaluation framework is implemented.
In consultation with the council, take responsibility for the
compilation of relevant educational materials, health promotion and
other similar activities to be circulated among the members.
Liaise regularly with the AHN Secretariat and President on all matters
above as well as administrative issues.
QUALIFICATION
University degree or its equivalent in Business Administration, Public
Administration, Public Health,
Experience of NGO work desirable, but not essential.
Flexibility and willingness to become involved in all aspects of the
job.
Diplomatic skills and an ability to motivate volunteers, medical and
non-medical, to become actively in AHN.
Entrepreneurial spirit.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Fluent in English and a working knowledge of French
Excellent computer skills
Have genuine interest and commitment to public health in Africa.
Willingness to travel.
