The American University of Nigeria (AUN)

1. ORACLE Database Administrator (DBA)
The DBA is responsible for IT database systems, and backup in a 24x7
mission critical environment. This includes infrastructure planning,
analysis, design implementation, testing, setup, reporting, and
documentation. The DBA is also responsible for installing, configuring,
patching, backing up and recovery, troubleshooting and database
administration. Supports development projects by managing database
changes through the application development lifecycle, maintaining
development environments, data modeling, and SQL & PL/SQL development
and tuning. Proactively identify and avert troublesome trends or
problems that could degrade systems performance and availability.
Candidates must have experience administering Oracle 10g on a Solaris,
UNIX or Linux platforms. Experience with Oracle on Windows will be
beneficial. Experience with high availability database solutions
architectures such as VERITAS Clusters, Oracle Real Application
Clusters, Oracle Advanced Republication, or Oracle Standby Database/Data
Guard.
2. UNIX Systems Administrator (USA)
The USA designs, develops, operates and maintains all UNIX based
servers. Responsible for IT systems, storage, and backup in a 24x7
mission critical environment. This includes infrastructure planning,
analysis, design, implementation, testing, setup, reporting, and
documentation. Required to interface with application and database
owners to design, build and optimize IT architecture to best serve the
requirements of the applications selected.
Candidates must have 3-4 years of Solaris Systems Administration
experience. Must have strong experience with installation,
troubleshooting, problem resolution, and securing operating systems –
along with the administration of communications of services & user
applications. Must have experience with Solaris 10. Must have experience
with system management including Jumpstart, System Backup & Restore, and
Patch Maintenance. Strong knowledge of Sun hardware & architecture.
Working knowledge or experience in Cisco switches and Routers.
Ability to work under pressure.
3. Web Developer/administrator (WDA)
The WDA designs, develops writes, manages and maintains Web, Software
and database development projects.
This includes the development of an extensible architecture and
framework for AUN website, and provide compelling web services for use
by the AUN community. The WDA customizes, compiles, installs,
configures, monitors and debugs web server instances. Provides design
tools to streamline and robustly deploy new systems. Troubleshoots
issues with web server, database, security, network, and web
technologies.
Candidate should possess a computer science degree, B.A. is required. 3+
years of web development experience working on mid-size to large-scale
projects in a collaborative environment. Ability to engineer modular,
extensible and maintainable software. Expert level object-oriented
programming. Capable of maintaining cross-browser compatibility. Must
have strong web site design and development skills which include AJAX,
DML, XHTML, DOM, Apache, JavaScript, VBscript, CGI, Perl, Photoshop,
Flash, Action scripting, Java, JSP, PHP, and CSS.
