Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Vacancy for Post of Professorial
Chair in Offshore Technology at the University of Benin, Benin City,
Nigeria
Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal
Government Agency responsible for building capacity of Nigerians for the
country's oil and gas industry intends to endow a Professorial Chair in
Offshore Technology at the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria as
part of its Universities Endowment Programme. Currently the Fund has
endowed professorial chairs in 7 Universities in Nigeria.
The PTDF Chair Professor in Offshore Petroleum Technology is
expected to lead innovative research in deep and ultra deep technology
challenges, and is expected to create a centre of excellence for
research and development in Offshore Drilling and Production Technology.
Applicants are welcome from distinguished scholars from any recognized
University both from within and outside Nigeria or oil and gas industry
researchers/experts with considerable experience in this area and
demonstrable academic and research leadership.
Conditions of Service
The appointment is for an initial period of 3 years and may be renewed
for another 2 years if deemed desirable by the Fund.
The salary is the equivalent of the salary of a University Professor
plus 20 percent. The yearly grant covers provision for funding of
research, attendance of conferences (international and local) as well as
salaries for research assistants and secretarial staff. A take off grant
and capital items provided include a vehicle for field trips.
Method of Application.
Interested Candidates are expected to forward 10 copies of their
detailed curriculum vitae including full contact details of referees and
a synopsis of not more than two(2) pages in the major research area that
they will carry out over the three year tenure to the Head, Research
& Planning Department, Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Plot 672
Port Harcourt Crescent, off Gimbiya Street, Area 11, Garki, Abuja on
or before 22 August, 2008.
Closing Date: 22 August, 2008.
A panel of experts will be constituted to conduct an interview for short
listed candidates on a date to be communicated in due course.
