Harris Stratex Networks, supplier of wireless transmission systems is inviting applications for the position of Field Engineer in Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

Work with project team to install network management systems, on time and within budget - Work closely with customers to determine requirements and implementation strategies - Identify and communicate potential program scope impacts to program management - Write customer interfaces to various types of telecom devices - Install hardware and software (NetBoss - a complex Network Management System) on site - Write customer interfaces to various types of data communications equipment - Configure and tune the system to meet specific customer needs - Create graphics as needed - Perform system acceptance testing, on-site and get sign off from customer - Complete program documentation including customer notebook, design, and user documentation - Provide internal technical expertise to customer support and development teams as needed

 

Required Experience and Skills:

Primary skills (required): - Bachelor of Science degree in a computer related technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. - Or, a BA/BS in an other field (e.g. Math, Physics) who has taken additional programming/computer classes - Must be able to travel to the USA - Strong Unix knowledge/skills - Strong Unix scripting background or other programming experience - Data communications, networking, and telecom experience - Strong customer interface skills, communications skills, and professionalism - Willingness to travel (~75%) throughout Africa/Middle East - Possess or have the ability to obtain a passport
