NICOMM 2007 Nigeria's ICT Exhibition and Conference

22-10-2007- NICOMM 2007 Exhibition and Conference, the 12th yearly international telecommunications and information technology (IT) expo organised by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) holds in the MUSON Centre, Lagos, Nigeria, October 22 - 24, 2007.

ICT trade groups from various countries of the world, including United States, Britain, Hong Kong, China, India, Korea, Dubai, Taiwan, Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Malaysia, Egypt, Lebanon, etc are expected to be at NICOMM 2007 to showcase the latest technologies in the global ICT market and to network with local representatives, partners, distributors, dealers and resellers.  

Leading local telecommunications operators and information technology providers are in addition expected to display their products and services for the massive Nigerian market. Government parastatals as well other private sector participants in the banking and finance industries will be showcasing their ICT driven products and services. According to a ATCON release, “a sizeable number of public officials and chieftains of industries to participate in the event. These include the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; state governors; Senate president, chairmen and members of senate and House committees on Communication; minister of Information & Communications; minister of Science and Technology, ministers of state for Energy; executive vice chairman of NCC, director-general NITDA; director-general, NBC; director-general, BPE, and executive secretary, Nigerian Investment Promotion Council”.

The conference will feature a presentation on "Energy and power crisis: Which way forward"; "Niger Delta debacle: Migration from militarisation to digitalisation?"; "Number portability: Will subscribers smile at last?" and "ICT revolution: Potentials and opportunities for employment generation". Other likely topics may include "Nigerian banks and ICT financing: The good, the bad, the ugly"; "Quality of service: The untold truth"; as well as "Foreign direct investments: Implications for national integrity and security".
