Nigeria Information Technology Exhibition - NITEX 2010


1 Mar-2010  - In NITEX 2010 - Nigeria Information Technology Exhibition, a leading IT event in Nigeria organized by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will be taking place from  14th - 16th, April 2010 at the Multipurpose Hall, University of Lagos, Yaba in Lagos, Nigeria. Holding from, 9am - 6pm Daily 

According to NCS President, Prof. Charles Uwadia, the NITEX exhibition would promote and showcase the abundant skills and expertise available locally in Nigeria in different facets of IT and would also encourage creativity, innovation and healthy competition among industry players within vendors and developers, as well as between local and foreign brands.

He stressed that the exhibition would provide platform to highlight offerings from indigenous software and locally assembled hardware which would facilitate the creation of an emerging local market that would offer customers opportunities to select products and services in a wide range of areas. Since IT is the infrastructure of today's age, all sectors need to use IT to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

NCS OBJECTIVES FOR NITEX ARE:

1) Having realized that much original software running in most of the government and public establishment's Computers were written locally by Nigerians, to now prepare such products with commercial flavouring for the purpose of export.

2) To showcase to the world and particularly, Nigerians that our Local Hardware are able to compete favorably with the international market.

3) To provide Nigeria IT consumers an opportunity to have a first hand knowledge of the ICT equipments available in Nigeria.

4) To provide the platform for Nigeria ICT experts to meet and explore the possibilities of collaboration and healthy competition among themselves, with the objective of making Nigeria a net exporter of I.T. software/hardware products within a short space of time.

5) To provide the platform for the co-operation and interaction between International IT Experts and Local IT Experts in Nigeria in the production of software/hardware in the African sub-region.

 

In hosting NITEX 2010, NCS is working in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Bank of Industry, Consumer Protection Agency and Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

NITEX commenced in 1997 with the name, Made in Nigeria Software Exhibition (MNISE), which was later transformed into Nigeria Software Exhibition (NISE),

The Exhibition will be packed with the latest global and regional launches from world-leading
brands, daily keynotes, networking opportunities and knowledge exchange at the seminar
sessions, vendor theatres and specially created features to showcase the newest
innovations for the industry.
