IT News Announcement: CTO Networking with the USA 2010 hosted by the U.S. Commercial Service Nigeria on May 10 - 14, 2010 at the MUSON Center, 8/9 Marina - Onikan, Lagos, Nigeria 1 Mar-2010 - The U.S. Commercial Service Nigeria will host CTO/NUSA 2010 from May 10- 14, 2010, at the MUSON Center in Lagos. The Theme of CTO 2010 is "Technologies to Secure Nigeria’s Future". The CTO exhibitions and seminars are the largest in West Africa where local companies representing or working with U.S. suppliers and manufacturers of computers, telecommunications and office equipment showcase the very best of American technology, equipment and services available in Nigeria for the sub-region.
CTO exhibitions features an all-day, special-event seminar on the first
day and a four-day exhibition with private seminars, workshops,
product/service launching and demonstrations. The exhibition and seminars are open to the public, but attendees younger than 18 years old are not permitted on the exhibit floor, except on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, when college and university students are permitted to attend. CTO/NUSA seminars and Exhibition help professionals from both the public and private sector better understand the challenges they face and the array of technology-driven solutions available to successfully meet these challenges. The seminars provide a unique platform for local
and international experts to interact on critical issues, especially
those related to technology diffusion, alliances and partnerships
between firms, service delivery, and entrepreneurship." The theme of this year's event is security. How do we use technology protect our lives, property and our future. It is expected that as we rely more on technology and information resources, the seminars and workshops will boost awareness of the importance of information security, while sharing best practices. Cybercrime, hacking, phishing, ATM fraud and general identity theft are on the increase. The need to develop Information security awareness and capacity is glaring not just in Nigeria but whole over Africa. The African Information Security Association was established to facilitate and promote information security in Africa.
CTO 2010 will highlight and feature technologies, tools and
services that Nigeria needs to improve all facets of security. Partnerships and collaborations with
local and US firms
will enhance value creation, create opportunities and facilitate technology diffusion.
It is
hoped that CTO/NUSA event will serve in proactively
complementing the
efforts of AISA. There is no one-man army in information security.
