May 2009- The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) will be holding its IT Professionals’ Assembly / Annual General Meeting with the theme, “The Role of Information Technology in ameliorating the Global Economic meltdown” on Thursday 25th June, 2009.

The venue is Sheraton Hotels, Abuja According to CPN, attendance is very crucial because several issues that are related to the existence, objectives, activities and vision of Council for the IT industry and the nation would be comprehensively discussed.

In the words of Mrs. Adenike Osofisan, President and Chairman of Council, Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, before the IT Assembly in 2007, “The IT Assembly is designed to be an annual event where topical issues on IT would be discussed. Also, the programme was created as a continuation of our awareness generation drive to let people know what CPN is, reasons for its emergence and what IT practitioners stand to benefit when they join CPN”.

The Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria was established through Act 49 of 1993. The Act was passed into law on June 10, 1993 and gazetted on the August 9 that year. CPN is a corporate entity that is charged with the regulation, control and supervision of the computing industry in Nigeria.

According to the CPN announcement: "Please note that only members who pay their fees on or before Friday, 29th May, 2009 will have their names published in the 2009/2010 Edition of the Register of Members (which will be sent to Government Establishments, Oil Companies, Banks and other Financial institutions, Embassies, etc) as well as National Newspapers and the Council website

Payment for renewal of licence can be made in cheque or bank draft into CPN accounts in the following banks:
