STAFF POSITIONS

 

1. Web Developer / Administrator (Ref. IT -01/07)

Responsibilities

Designs, develops writes manages and maintains web, software and database development projects at AAUN.

 

Activities include:

- Leads and participates in all phases of web applications development life-cycle, version control and content management processes and procedures

- Guarantees that all web developments are in compliance with AAUN standards.

- Plays a lead role in creating robust information architecture  systems, multi-layered interface designs, robust multi-media content (animation, video, other interactive media elements), dynamic Web pages using Windows and Java-based  technologies, database-driven applications web sites, and special online tools and features.

- Creates metatags and indexes web pages for optimal performance Monitors traffic and generates reports.

 

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

- Strong web site design and development skills which should include

XML, XHTML, JavaScript, VBscrip, CGI, Perl, Photoshop, Flash, Action scripting, Java, JSP and CSS

- Leading teams on large-scale projects is a must.

- Proficiency with current tools for multi-tiered database development, SQL query and reporting, UNIX system experience (Solaris a plus), and various web clients, including MacOs and Windows.

- Specific database administration experience with Oracle and or SQL Server preferred.

- Knowledge or experience with Documented and /or Luminis is preferred.

 

2. ORACLE Database Administrator (Ref. IT-02/07)

Responsibilities:

- The Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of database administration including installing, configuring, patching, backing up and recovery, and troubleshooting Oracle and networking errors. The Administrator also:

- Supports development projects by managing database changes through the application development lifecycle, maintaining development environments, data modeling, and SQL & PL/SQL development and tuning.

- Proactively identifies and averts troublesome trends or problems that could degrade systems performance and availability.

 

Requirements:

Candidates must be experienced in administering Oracle 9i and 8i on a Solaris, UNIX (IBM/HP) or Linux platforms.

Experience with Oracle on Windows will be very beneficial. Experience with high availability database solutions architectures such as VERITAS Clusters, Oracle real Application Clusters, Oracle Advanced Replication, or Oracle Standby Database/Data Guard.

 

3. SOLARIS Systems Administrator (Ref. IT-03/07)

Requirements

- Candidates must have 1-3 years of Solaris Systems Administration experience.

- Vast experience in installation, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and securing operating systems.

- Administration of communication services & user applications

- Candidates must be experienced in Solaris 8 through 10

- Experience with system management including Jumpstart, System

Backup & Restore, and Patch Maintenance is also imperative.

- Extensive knowledge of Sun hardware & architecture is also required.

- Working knowledge or experience in Cisco switches and Routers.

- Ability to work under pressures.

 

4. Serials/Acquisitions Librarian (Ref. Lib-01/07)

Major Responsibilities:

- Provides access to the serially published resources of the AAUN library by providing records of library materials.

- Performs check-in procedures and organization of all the periodicals in the library's collection.

- Maintain the integrity and consistency of all of the serially published resources.

- Performs corrections and change to check in and serial item records in the on line catalog including withdrawals, transfers, reclassifications etc.

- Will undergo training on the acquisitions module of Millennium and  perform acquisitions functions under supervision.

 

Requirements:

- B.A. degree in Library Science.

- Masters Degree holder is preferred.

- Experience working within a computerized integrated library system is preferred.

- Good interpersonal skills.

 

General conditions applicable to staff positions

Candidates should be able to communicate well in English.

Work experience in multicultural organizations/institutions preferred.
