The The Federal Government of Nigeria with support from the World Bank is implementing a Science and Technology Education at the Post Basic (STEP-B) Project. The objectives of STEP-B are to, improve the quality, equitable access to, and relevance of science and technology education at the
federal post basic level of education so as to increase the country's competitiveness in the globalizing world. The STEP-B Project has a provision for a funding window - "Innovators of Tomorrow" (IOT) Award, where a maximum sum of $20,000.00 will be disbursed, on a competitive basis to students of science and technology related disciplines in all eligible institutions.

Conditions of the Award:
Eligible applicants are students completing their final year of study in bachelors, masters or
doctoral programmes from a federal tertiary education institution. Final year students at the
polytechnics and colleges of education are also eligible to apply, Applicants for the award must
be able to demonstrate exceptional entrepreneurialism and innovativeness in an area of
economically promising technology development. In the application for the award, each proponent
would be required to provide details of his/her plan to develop or refine a commercially viable
S&T idea that is still at the concept stage.

Grant Administration and Processing
Application Form and further information on how to benefit from the grant can be downloaded from
the following site: www.stepbnigeria.org. Completed Application forms MUST be endorsed by the
Applicant's Supervisor and Head of Department and forwarded to the Head of Institution for
processing. 

Deadlines
All duly completed Grant Application Forms should be submitted to the Vice Chancellors / Rectors / Provosts on or before 15th May, 2008. The award will be announced not later than 15th June, 2008. 

Beneficiaries
The current round of application is open to all Final Year, Masters and Doctorate Degree Students
in all Federal Post Basic Educational Institutions (PBEIs) who will complete their studies not
later than JUNE, 2009.
