The British Council is presenting the International Young
Music Entrepreneur of the Year (IYMEY) awards for the fourth time. The
global winner of IYMEY will receive a financial prize, which will be
linked to the UK and tailored to the winner's specific needs.
Participants must:
be aged between 25 and 35
already work in the music sector (as defined above)
be entrepreneurial and have shown your ability and innovative approach
to the promotion of music in Nigeria, particularly in a commercial
context
through your character, drive and abilities demonstrate your potential
to be a leader of the music sector in Nigeria
Possess the characteristics outlined in
the organization's 'IYCE definition document'
have English language skills to IELTS 6 or above (competent user).
Who can participate?
Record companies; Artists and Repertoire (A&R); producing, recording,
engineering; music licensing, and distribution
venue and/or festival programming and management
artists management and agents
music broadcasting
music journalism and publishing
music development and management
music marketing; public and media relations
Music retail online (including digital) and high street outlets
consultants providing specialist services in any of the areas outlined.
Why participate?
The Nigerian winner will qualify as one
of the 10 finalists worldwide for the award in UK
The finalists will participate in a UK tour schedule to take place in
May 2009. The 10 day tour will comprise visits, meetings, seminars and
live concerts and events where the ten finalists are able to meet key
leaders, institutions, companies, etc within the sector
Finalists will take part in the wide range of business networking
opportunities and attend a number of targeted music events including the
IYMEY Award ceremony.

You will be sent an application pack including an application which you
will use to fill in your application.
The IYMEY recognises that a participant may be active as a musician as
well as being focussed as an entrepreneur in the promotion of music.
