Who are these people? They are the people you call when you're having problems with your computer. They also keep the computers running smoothly in the background in different working environments.

Typically as a Computer support person you are involved in installation, setup, upgrading, repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and all other peripherals. Plus, you need to fully understand the network configurations and operating systems your users might be utilizing. In many instances, this includes the setup, training of users in the use of systems, as well as carrying out Software related tasks.

Your software related functions include installation of software packages,
upgrade and update of software, troubleshooting application and system errors, advising users on software use, training users and writing of training manuals.

When you work in tech support, job titles you will come across are:
Technical Support Representative, Customer Service Representative, Computer
Support Specialist, Tech Support Professional, Help Desk Support, PC Support
Specialist, PC Maintenance Technician, PC Network Technician, Sales
Support Technician and Maintenance Technician.

Tech support is often the place to start for the beginner. Tech support gives you experience that will open the doors to other paths that may otherwise be
inaccessible. But there is no substitute for Attitude, Knowledge and Experience.
