Microsoft
Microsoft
owns the market for PCs. Developers can’t afford to ignore Microsoft
products. Microsoft
developers have a choice of earning two different credentials to
validate Microsoft .NET knowledge and skills: Microsoft
Certified Application Developer (MCAD) and
Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD). The
Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) is Microsoft's
base-level developer certification. “MCADs use Microsoft technologies
to develop and maintain department-level applications, components, Web
or desktop clients, or back-end data services”. Unlike
MCSD, MCAD doesn't define solutions or create specifications for
customers or design the system software architecture. MCAD focus is
writing code for specific functions or components of an application. Getting
the MCAD credential is a step towards earning the MCSD credential for
those who want more advancement in Microsoft software development.
To
achieve MCAD, you must pass three exams, including two core exams and an
elective. Microsoft
Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) The
Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .NET
credential is the “top-level certification for advanced developers who
design and develop leading-edge enterprise solutions, using Microsoft
development tools and technologies as well as the Microsoft .NET”. Achieving
the MCSD requires passing five exams, including four core exams and an
elective. Every exam towards the MCAD also counts for the MCSD Java
Java
is a major product of Sun Microsystems. Java
is regarded as the ideal environment for network computing because it
runs across all platforms – “from servers to cell phones to smart
cards” – network-based, web-based. This
platform independence has made Java programmers one of the most
sought-after technology specialists. "Java
Programmers must utilize various features of Java, including language
fundamentals, object-oriented design principles, execution threads and
Java packages”. Sun
Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform
Sun’s
Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform 1.4 is the most widely
recognized certification for Java programmers. SCJP
is for “programmers interested in demonstrating proficiency in the
fundamentals of the Java programming language using the Java 2 Platform,
Standard Edition (J2SE technology).” Obtaining
Sun’s Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform 1.4 requires
passing one exam, CX-310-035. It has no prerequisites. It deals with
Basic language features such as access specifiers, operators, and other
keywords. It also covers threads and multithreading strategies, as well
as user-interface design with layout managers. Also, if you already hold
this certification for a version prior to 1.4, there is a one-exam
upgrade, CX-310-036. More
