CompTIA Network+ Certification

CompTIA Network+

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) developed the Network+ certification. It is a vendor-neutral foundation-level certification.

CompTIA’s Network+ certification is aimed at IT professionals with nine months experience in network support or administration. Network+ is a recognized entry-level, vendor-neutral certification for the field of Computer Networking.

Candidates really have to understand practically how a network is put together and how the elements talk to each other.

Although there are no prerequisites for the exam, CompTIA recommends that you possess the A+ certification.

The Network+ designation is achieved by passing one conventional format exam that covers topics that include:

1.      Media & Topologies

2.      Protocols & Standards

3.      Network implementation

4.      Network support.

Exam lasts 90 minutes and Passing Score: 646 on a 100 to 900 scale, with 72 questions.

CompTIA announced in July, 2004 that the popular Network+ certification will be upgraded in 2005 "to cover advances in technology and reflect changes in job tasks".
